FAQ
Frequently asked questions
When will the NewBorn session take place ?
Newborn sessions take place when the baby is ideally less than 2 weeks old (5-9 days preferred). Timing is important here because at this age, the babies are much sleepier and flexible, and enjoy being curled up and cozy. This allows us to be able to capture those adorable shots where they are swaddled or tucked in and positioned in baskets and other props.
We understand that babies’ births are unpredictable, so we ask all our clients to contact us within 48 hours after birth to set a definitive date.
How long does the average newborn session take? How can I prepare?
At Ibbani Studios, we have years of experience working with babies to create breathtaking images that families treasure. But no amount of experience or expertise is a match for the needs of a newborn! We encourage families to set aside two to three hours for the average shoot. This takes into consideration the average baby’s needs – from feeding and changing to the occasional cuddling. You can help us by feeding your little one prior to the shoot (we find full babies like to sleep!) and dressing baby in an outfit that is easily removed. Also, because a lengthy shoot can be as hard on adults as children, we encourage you to bring a snack, book or anything else that will also make you comfortable.
Where will the NewBorn session take place?
Newborn sessions are done at our studio because we know our space and have great lighting, plus this is also where we have our collection of props, blankets, swaddles, and posing supplies. If you are interested to have the session in your home , you can contact us for more information.
My baby is sick/cranky/otherwise not feeling up to the shoot. What is your rescheduling policy?
At Ibbani Studios, we understand that life happens. If, on the day of your shoot, you find your little one is ill or just isn’t at his or her best, please contact us as soon as possible so we can work together to reschedule.
How far in advance should I schedule my newborn session ?
Babies are best photographed during the first 6 to 14 days of life – the best time to get all of those curly, sleepy shots we all love so much! For this reason, you’re encouraged to schedule your shoot well before the baby is born. This will also ensure you will have a spot with us in the studio during the 2 week window that is best for newborn pictures. We fill up quickly and have limited availability each month.
How do you pose the baby? Will my baby be comfortable during the shoot?
Special care will be taken to place your baby in natural positions that mimic the ways your little one may have laid in the womb. Extra attention goes toward keeping baby warm and toasty during the shoot too. When it’s all done, you leave with a happy baby and photos you will treasure.
Can I bring other family members to observe the session?
Other family members, such as older sibling and grandparents, are welcome to attend the session. However, based on experience we find that the more people who attend the more distracted your little one is likely to be, and the less they will look at the camera during the session.
Can I bring additional changes of clothes for the session?
You are welcome to bring a couple of different outfit options with you to see which outfits match best with set, the props and the decorations. your little one can wear two different outfits during the session. However adding additional outfit changes to the sessions often disrupts the natural flow of the session, and can leads to you little one are becoming upset and frustrated.
Can we include a fur baby ?
Fur babies are always welcome. When including your fur baby, we will do these photos first so that one parent can either take your pet for a walk or drop them home. For safety reasons, all images of pets with a baby will be achived as a composite image in post production.

When is the best time for Maternity session ?
The best time for a maternity photo shoot is typically between 28 and 36 weeks of pregnancy. During this time, your baby bump will be well-rounded and you will still feel relatively comfortable. You will also be far enough along in your pregnancy that you will be able to show off your bump, but not so far along that you may be feeling uncomfortable or tired.
If you are planning to have your baby shower, you may want to consider scheduling your maternity photo shoot a few weeks before the shower. This will give you time to get your photos back and choose the perfect ones to use for your invitations.
If you are expecting twins or triplets, you may want to schedule your maternity photo shoot earlier in your pregnancy. This is because your belly will grow larger more quickly with multiple babies.
